What are Dry Wells?
Dry wells are a configuration of a tank, stone and piping where water is directed away from a foundation where it can be collected and allowed to drain harmlessly below grade and away from a foundation.
Dry wells must be constructed in such a way that sand is not able to get into the tank or collection site and displace the capacity to collect water.
This involves a filtering fabric that will allow water to exit but stop sand from entering the dry well.
Down spouts from gutters can deposit large amounts of water right at the top of your foundation. This scenario, given poor grading or poor drainage can be mitigated with a dry well.
