What is Stump Removal?
Stump removal involves actually digging out the stump and removing it. This requires the use of a small excavator, first to get the stump out of the ground and then load it onto a truck to be removed.
This process produces a similar crater to the rotted stump described above, the main difference is the ability to then fill in the crater then and there eliminating the inevitable repair later on.
The other advantage to removing a stump is greatly reducing the likely-hood of new growth starting from the old stump or a root near the surface. Oak and locust are notorious for this, locust being the worst culprit as running roots from the locust will push up new growth.
This is why one seldom sees a single locust tree, usually they are numerous trees all connected together via roots.
